What Is Gallbladder Surgery?
Gallbladder surgery is a weight loss surgery performed on people who do not have conditions that will interfere with surgery. Along with this operation, problems in the gallbladder are solved. The gallbladder is located in the upper right abdomen below the liver and has a long, sac-like shape. Stores bile made by the liver. How Is Gallbladder Surgery Performed?
Gallstones are the cause of gallbladder surgery. Gallstones can usually exist for years without being noticed and without symptoms. But they can also lead to inflammation of the gallbladder and blockage of the bile ducts. The results are typical biliary colic. Jaundice occurs if the bile empties. In such cases, only surgical treatment can often correct the condition. Several reviews are conducted to clarify complaints and determine the cause. General preparations and explanations such as blood tests, blood pressure measurement and ECG are made as usual before surgery. Blood thinners should be discontinued in advance. Gallbladder operations are performed under general anesthesia. Basically, there are two different methods for removing gallstones. Endoscopic removal of gallstones by gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy) and gallbladder endoscopy (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography). Gallbladder endoscopy is also used for diagnostic purposes to localize gallstones and clarify biliary tract diseases. Gallbladder removal is also performed in cases of gallbladder cancer.
